Indonesian badminton players win four gold in Asian Paragames

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, IEOCHEON - Indonesia won four gold medals at the Asian Paragames 2014 in Incheon, South Korea, on Thursday.

Indonesian badminton players bagged the gold medals in the men's singles event of SL4 group, the women's singles event of SL3 group, the mixed doubles event of SL3.4/SU5 group, and the men's doubles event of Sl3-4 group.

In the men's singles event of SL4 group, Indonesia's Fredy Setiawan beat India's Tarun 22-20,21-16 while in the men's singles event of SL3 group, Ukun Rukaendi outclassed Manoi Sarkar of India 21-14,21-15. In the mixed doubles event of SL 3.4/SU5, Fredy Setiawan paired with Leani Ratri Oktila to defeat Indian duo Rai Kumar/Parol Datsukhbhai Parmar 21-14,21-15.

Indonesia secured a gold medal in the men's doubles event of SL3-4, which saw an All Indonesia Final between Hery Susanto/Ukun Rukaendi and Dwiyoko/Fredy Setiawan. Hery who teamed up with Ukun outscored Dwiyoko/Fredy pair 21-15,21-13.

However, Indonesia's Karma Dwi Listiyanto lost to Hou Cheah Liek of Malaysia 8-21, 11-21 in the men's singles finals of group SU5. Ukun Rukaendi said he was proud to contribute two gold medals to the Indonesian contingent.

"I am proud of achieving my gold medal target. The gold medals are dedicated to the entire Indonesian nation," he added.
