President Jokowi urged to be careful when selecting ministers

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - The People's Power Front for Democracy, one of the organizations that voluntarily campaigned for Joko Widodo or Jokowi uring the recent presidential election, has urged the new president to be careful when selecting his cabinet members.

"President Jokowi must be cautious about the people he selects. He must listen to the recommendations of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) and the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK)," Gatot Ario Bimo, the front's chairman, stated here Thursday.

Responding to a question about the cabinet lineup to be announced by President Jokowi, he said ye hoped the government could meet the Indonesian people's high expectations. He reminded the president must put "the right man in the right place" to fill ministerial posts.

President Jokowi, who was inaugurated on Monday, has yet to announce the names of his cabinet ministers. Earlier, the head of state said that the KPK and PPATK had checked the track records of all ministerial candidates.

According to KPK Chairman Abraham Samad, the anti-graft body has recommended the President against choosing those ministerial candidates who have been given red or yellow marking in its verification report.

"The meaning of yellow and red marks is the same. The candidates who got yellow and red marks should not be selected as ministers," he stressed.
