REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- President Joko Widodo, or popularly known as Jokowi, during his first speech after being sworn in at the parliament building on Monday called on all stakeholders to boost development in Indonesia in the future.

"This is time for us to make history. Let us push Indonesia forward, make this country independent in the economic sector, and always maintain our culture," President Jokowi stated after being inaugurated as Indonesia's seventh president for the period of 2014-2019.

The president pointed out that all targets can be achieved if stakeholders worked together.

"We will never be truly independent if we do not work hard. The government will ensure that the Indonesian people across the country benefit from our services. I also call on all state agencies to work hard based on their assigned tasks," the president affirmed.

"To the fishermen, laborers, farmers, drivers, entrepreneurs, and professionals, let us work together because this is a historical moment for us. We must be present globally and maintain our sovereignty and dignity as a nation," President Jokowi remarked.
