REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SOLO -- A rickshaw driver from Solo, Central Java, Masalwoto Armorodi is determined to meet President-elect Joko Widodo up close and personal by riding his rickshaw 573 kilometers to Jakarta.

Armorodi said he will leave from the Solo branch of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P), the President-elect's supporting party, to fulfill an oath he had made. Armorodi had vowed to meet the former Solo Mayor if he was elected as the President of the Republic of Indonesia.

As scheduled, Armorodi will arrive in Jakarta in seven to ten days before Joko Widodo is sworn in as the Indonesian President for the 2014-19 period.

Amorodi said he will leave his rickshaw in the state's palace as a souvenir and reminder that a "wong cilik" (a Javanese term for the poor and disadvantaged), who supported Joko Widodo as the Indonesian President, had met him.

"I will be meeting with Joko Widodo's supporting teams. If I'm allowed to see Joko Widodo's inauguration, it will be great. It will be ok even if I cannot attend the inauguration as I will be happy that I at least fulfilled my oath," Armorodi said.

Armorodi said he represented a small community and hence if he met Joko Widodo, then Widodo might always remember him and strive to improve the lives of other unlucky people like him.

"Jokowi (Joko Widodo) does not belong to the high-class alone, he is equally concerned about the lower class sections," Armorodi said.

The party's Solo branch Vice-Chairman, Paulus Haryoto, noted that Armorodi's endeavor was an appreciation from the Karanganyar residents, who extended their support for the President-elect while hoping for the improvement of the lower class sections.

"Armorodi's gesture is a form of oath, and I hope that the President-elect will always pay attention to the lower class people," Haryoto said.

The Party's Solo branch will also support and pray for Armorodi to safely arrive in Jakarta and meet Joko Widodo to fulfill his oath.
