REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, RIYADH -- Saudi Arabia announced Saturday no single case of Ebola virus or any contagious disease was reported to the Health Ministry in the Hajj area, noting that the health situation of pilgrims is reassuring so far.
Advisor to the Minister of Health Tareq Madani attributed in a statement on Saudi Press Agency that the abating of coronavirus, which witnessed a worrying spread in the country last March and April, to the preventive measures taken by the Ministry of Health to combat the infection in hospitals on one hand and illuminate people to evade the means of transmitting the virus on the other.
Complying with its policy of transparency, the ministry is going to announce any case once it is discovered among pilgrims, the spokesman vowed. Madani gave an account on the measures taken inside hospitals in the Kingdom to push the spreading phenomenon downwards.
With emphasis on pilgrims coming from abroad, particularly Ebola-stricken countries such as Sierra Leone, Guinea and Liberia, same measures were taken to avoid the spread of the disease, he added.
He noted the advanced electronic services recently introduced by the Ministry of Health to combat contagious diseases, including smart-phone Android service to assist a sick pilgrim to quickly make his/her way to the location of the nearest health facility in Hajj area.
And movable labs which provide careful and precise diagnosis of the disease were set up, which can send the result to doctors and the Command and Control Center whenever and wherever a case appears during Hajj.
