Soekarno movie released in Malaysia

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, KUALA LUMPUR -- Soekarno movie was finally released in Malaysia on Sunday night. The movie has also been prepared to compete in Tokyo International Film Festival and Toronto International Film Festival. At Gala premiere of the movie in Kuala Lumpur, it was attended by a number of prominent Malaysian ambassador, as well as Indonesian people in the neighboring country.

The premiere was also attended by former Malaysian prime minister, Mahathir Mohammad and his wife, Minister of Communication and Multimedia Ahmad Shabery Cheek, and Indonesian Ambassador to Malaysia Herman Prayitno and his staffers.

'Soekarno: Indonesia Merdeka' movie is directed by Hanung Bramantyo. The movie got positive response from Malaysian communities indicated by many people who attended the screening. Bramantyo proud with the appreciation given by people.

According to him, the film was produced in two years.

"I hope people outside Indonesia, such as Malaysia, Italy, Africa, China, Vietnam or Vatican were able to accept this movie," Bramantyo said.

A number of artists who contributed to the film also came to Kuala Lumpur, such as Aryo Bayu who played Soekarno, Maudy Koesnadi as Inggit Garnasih and Tika Bavani as Fatmawati.
