Palembang immigration ready to serve international MTQ participants

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, PALEMBANG - The staff members of the Immigration Office of Palembang, South Sumatra, are set to provide the best services to the participants of the International Musabaqah Tilawatil Quran, or Al-Qur'an recitation competition, from September 23-27, 2014.

A special team from the immigration office has been placed on standby at the Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin Airport, the Head of Palembang's Class I Immigration Office to ensure the best services to the participants and the guests from 53 countries, Bogi Widiantoro, said on Monday.

According to him, in addition to setting up a special team, the office will also coordinate with the International MTQ organizers to prepare and provide efficient immigration services right from the entry point.

"According to the preliminary information, the entry point for the participants going to Palembang is mostly through Jakarta, and several groups of participants will arrive at Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin Airport via direct flights from their countries," he said.

Widiantoro explained that the immigration documents of the participants who enter via Jakarta would be checked at Soekarno Hatta Airport. The documents of those arriving at Palembang will be checked at Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin Airport.

The Head of Immigration Service at Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin Airport, Arif Eka, said his team will do their best to support the international event.

"We are ready to give the best services to the guests to make them feel comfortable and safe during their participation in the international Al- Qur'an recitation competition," he added.
