REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Publicly traded telecommunications company PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia said it will acquire a telecommunication tower company in 2015.

"The company wants to be the biggest player in tower industry, and for that purpose we want to have a stake in the largest tower company in the Indonesia," finance director of the state telecommunication company Honesti Basyir said here on Wednesday.

Telkom would exchange 49 percent of the shares of its subsidiary Mitratel with the stake in the country's largest tower company, he said giving no name, Honesti said.

The process of acquisition is expected to be wrapped up in the first quarter of 2015, he said.

He said he could not yet give details of the acquisition including the value of the deal.

He said Telkom, the country's largest telecommunication company, is seeking external finance of Rp5 trillion-Rp10 trillion to cover it capital expenditures.

"The external finance could be raised through sales of bonds (either rupiah or global bonds), or bank loans," he said.

In 2014, the company sets an income target of Rp88.76 trillion-Rp89.59 trillion or an increase of 7-8 percent year-on-year.
