REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, PALANGKA RAYA -- Central Kalimantan Governor Agustin Teras Narang is set to address a Climate Summit at the UN Headquarters in New York on September 23 after receiving an invitation from UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon.

The invitation must be considered the success of and appreciation to the people of Central Kalimantan Province and the Indonesian state, the governor stated here on Monday.

"Of course, I am proud of and thankful for the invitation extended directly by the UN secretary general. I am actually prepared to address the Climate Summit," he noted.

Through his letter dated August 28, 2014, the UN secretary general had invited Teras Narang to address the summit.

In the letter, Ban Ki-moon stated that climate change and responses to it will determine the current issue. The steps taken today will determine the capability to achieve the vision proposed in the UN Charter.

Right now, global leaders have an unprecedented opportunity to achieve a meaningful agreement and implement measures to bring about sustainable prosperity, the UN chief noted.

"It depends on leaders at all government levels, civil societies, and private sectors to increase action and commitment to make it a possibility. That is our task at the Summit in September," he added.
