Minister: Ebola spread being constantly supervised

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, PALEMBANG -- Health Affairs Minister Nafsiah Mboi affirmed that the spread of the Ebola virus in Saudi Arabia was being constantly supervised through coordination with the Saudi Arabian government.

"We continue to communicate and coordinate with the Saudi Arabian government about the spread of the Ebola virus in the country," the minister stated after opening the national congress on the science of child health here on Sunday.

She remarked that supervision was intensified in an effort to prevent prospective Indonesian Hajj pilgrims from contracting the Ebola virus or the Middle East respiratory syndrome coronavirus (MERS-CoV).

Nafsiah remarked that the process of issuing entry visas to people visiting Saudi Arabia from countries prone to Ebola and MERS-CoV has been tightened.

Therefore, the health affairs minister noted that prospective Indonesian Hajj pilgrims should not worry about the spread of the Ebola virus in Saudi Arabia.

The minister was accompanied by South Sumatra Governor Alex Noerdin and numerous local administration officials while opening the national congress on the science of child health.
