REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, CIANJUR - Indonesia's economy was still facing considerable global challenges, including the US plan to stop its economic stimulus policy, presidential special aide for economic affairs Firmansyah said on Friday.

"The global economic challenges are still quite significant, including the US plan to stop its economic stimulus and the Fed's option to raise interest rate," he noted.

The steps to be possibly taken by the US monetary authorities in the future could affect the realization of Indonesia's economic plans, he reported at the Cipanas Palace in Cianjur, West Java. President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and a number of cabinet ministers had gathered at the presidential palace to discuss financial notes in the 2015 draft budget to be presented before a parliamentary plenary meeting later this month.

The preparation of the 2015 draft budget in the current transitional period is very important to ensure room to accommodate and to make it in line with the policies to be made by the new president and parliament, Firmansyah explained. President Yudhoyono is to end his tenure on October 20 and will be replaced by president-elect Joko Widodo.
