REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, MATARAM -- The Regional Police of West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) has detected the presence of Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) supporters in Bima in the NTB province.

NTB Police Chief Brigadier General Moechgiyarto claimed that the signs of ISIS presence were found in Bima through a video recording by a group of people who supported the ISIS movement.

"We are still investigating the video recording by the people who supported the ISIS movement. The support to ISIS in the recording is expressed in the form of prayers. It is not extreme which tends to resort to jihad," Moechgiyarto stated here on Thursday.

He remarked that the police could not yet take firm actions against the members of the group because their acts were still in the form of calls through prayers.

"They do not call for joining ranks to wage a jihad," the NTB Police chief pointed out.

In the meantime, a local military (TNI) chief in the province stated that the TNI is currently investigating the alleged presence of ISIS supporters in the region.

"As of now, we are still conducting investigations to detect the alleged presence of ISIS supporters in NTB. The possibility is certainly there," Chief of the 162 Wira Bhakti military resort, Colonel Kuat Budiman, noted here on Thursday.

He emphasized that the ISIS presence and its activities were against the country's constitution and state ideology, and therefore, the local people must watch out for possible propagation of the ISIS ideology and activities in the region.

Budiman pointed out that the ISIS ideology can disrupt national unity, including the Muslim community.

"We hope that Muslims in the country will not be influenced and divided by it," he added.

The efforts to detect the likely presence of ISIS in NTB were made following the discovery of initial signs of it, Budiman claimed.

He remarked that following intelligence operations, a document had been found, which revealed about a preaching session at a certain location, but its content and the preacher could not yet be confirmed.

The picture only showed a man who appeared to be preaching in front of several people and standing in front of a banner that read "Indonesia Support Islamic State State" and below it "Islamic State of Iraq and Sham," he stated, adding that the event occurred in March.
