REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, PALANGKA RAYA -- Central Kalimantan recorded the highest economic growth rate in Kalimantan in the second quarter of this year.
Central Kalimantan reported a 5.79 percent growth year-on-year in the second quarter of this year as against South Kalimantan's 4.89 percent, West Kalimantan's 4.63 percent and East Kalimantan's 1.89 percent.
Quarter to quarter, the economy of Central Kalimantan grew 0.99 percent, the regional office of the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) said here on Thursday.
The growth was driven by a 11.51 percent growth of its manufacturing sector, chairman of the provincial office of BPS Sukardi said.
The performance in economic growth of Central Kalimantan deserves appreciation, but the regional administration need to address development of the agricultural sector which suffered a 3.89 percent contraction, Sukardi said.
