Jokowi-JK to support KPU to deal with Prabowo's lawsuit

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The elected president, Jokowi 'Jokowi' Widodo and vice president Jusuf Kalla are ready to assist General Election Commission (KPU) to deal with lawsuit filed by Prabowo Subianto and Hatta Rajasa at Constitutional Court on Wednesday, August 6. Prabowo has filed a lawsuit about his refusal to accept the 2014 presidential election result officially announced by KPU on July 22.

On July 22, KPU named Jokowi as the next president with a total of 70,997,833 votes or 53.15 percent, while Prabowo gained only 62,576,444 votes or 46.85 percent.

Prabowo previously claimed that fraud had occurred at 52,000 polling stations and had affected 21 million votes in its initial lawsuit filed at the court on July 25.

Kalla said that his team had prepared related data and evidences to strengthen KPU's decision on July 22 as he would be the involved party in legal proceeding in the Court. He considered that all datas were valid from all level of districts, regents and provinces.

"We are ready and we will be involved in the Court," Kalla said on Tuesday.

Kalla signaled, if he were Prabowo, he would not insist to push himself to be the winner. Even if he conducted a legal efforts, he just sued, so that the next presidential election could be better, rather than complained the total votes.
