Jokowi to resign after Lebaran

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Jakarta governor, Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo said that he would submit resignation letter as governor after Eid al-Fitr. It followed the presidential election result announced by General Election Commission (KPU). Jokowi and Jusuf Kalla (JK) become the next Indonesian president and vice president.

"The letter will be submitted after Lebaran in August 2014," Jokowi said recently in Jakarta.

When he returned to his office at City Hall, Jokowi said that he followed the latest issues occured in Jakarta and surrounding areas, despite the leave period.

"Everyday I always communicate with my deputy (Basuki Tjahaja Purnama or Ahok)," Jokowi added.

KPU  has completed the voting count for 2014 president and vice president in 33 provinces and abroad on Tuesday. Jokowi and JK won with 70,997,883 of votes compared to Prabowo Subianto and Hatta Rajasa with 62,576,444 of votes.
