REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Director of Bank Central Asia (BCA), Suwignyo Budiman said that level of company's non performing loan (NPL) gross rose slightly in second half of 2014, from 0.4 percent to 0.5 percent. The increase in NPL was caused company's policy in raising interest rates on credit, so that customers feel impact of the policy.

"I think the total NPL was not many different, approximately 0.5 percent higher than last year," Budiman said recently.

The number is still on track following the increase of all banking loans. However, company remains cautious to maintain the NPL level in future.

"I think we do have to be careful. Hopefully the number is not much rising," he added.

BCA's credit growth in the first half 2014 also slowed compared to last year as predicted by Bank Indoensia (BI). All banking companies in Indonesia also experienced the same. General liquidity was limited, followed by credit. The slowdown occured in all loan sectors, especially consumer loans. He hopes that the credit growth can be better in the second half of the year, but still in line with BI's direction around 15-17 percent. Mutia Ramadhani/Antara
