REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BANDA ACEH -- Hundreds of people here on Sunday held a rally to condemn the Israeli military aggression in Gaza and raised funds to help the Palestinians' struggle in facing the Zionist nation's military aggression.
The solidarity expression event took place in the front yard of the Baiturrahman great mosque in Aceh provincial city of Banda Aceh.
Chairman of the National Committee for the Palestinian People (KNRP), Tgk Mahyaruddin Yusuf, on the occasion said that the Zionist military has committed heinous practice by trying to burn down the land and the Muslims of Palestine.
"To day Aceh said that we are together with Palestine. Palestine is not alone. We, as part of Indonesia, are ready to do anything to help liberate Palestinians from Israeli stranglehold," he stated.
Tgk Mahyaruddin, who is concurrently the member of the Aceh provincial legislative assembly, also strongly criticized the silence of the UN, the United States and the European Union when the Jewish state of Israel killed Muslims in the Palestinian Gaza Strip.
"Why, the UN, the United States and the European Union which have so far declared as the upholding of human rights, but when Israel massacred Palestinians why they let them happen?," he said in his oration during the rally.
Apart from that Yasmi Adriansyah, the director of the Projecting Indonesia, told Antara correspondent in London on Saturday that the Zionist nation also violated the peace agreement signed with Palestine in 2012.
Israel did not only violate the human rights principles but also the Geneva Convention IV on the protection of civilians in time of war, Yasmi Adriansyah, the director of the Projecting Indonesia, he said.
Israel has so far disobeyed any international conventions and disregarded UN resolutions because they feel safe under the support of the United States directly and indirectly, he said.
He therefore urged the Indonesian government to remind the US to be fair and not to support the Israeli state terrorism because it could trigger reactions from freedom fighters in Palestine and other parts of the world.
