REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, YOGYAKARTA - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono praised Indonesian achievement in military in the last three decades. He claimed that the country's military now had modernized its weaponry, and shown professionalism, skills, as well as better life for its personnel.

"Indonesia implement its policy to produce its own defense and military equipment," Yudhoyono said on Thursday.

In the last five years, Indonesia has managed to build educational facilities and multi-purpose training center, namely the Indonesian Peace and Security Center in Sentul, Bogor. It also has Defense University campus and six education and training centers, including peacekeeping center, fight against terrorism and disaster management intended to equip military personnel with reliable state power.

Yudhono explained that despite Indonesia's advancement in its military system, the country did not exercise aggressive approach in its defense and military. He underlined that strong military aimed to protect Indonesia's sovereignty and answer regional challenges as well as geopolitical condition.
