Bangladesh, Cambodia ink four deals to bolster cooperation

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, DHAKA -- Bangladesh and Cambodia have signed three agreements and a memorandum of understanding (MoU) during a landmark three-day visit by Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen to the South Asian country.

Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina held talks with Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen here on Tuesday.

Both the leaders pledged to cement friendship and boost cooperation between the two nations, sources close to the meeting said.

According to the sources, Dhaka sought Phnom Penh's support to become ASEAN dialogue partner.

The Cambodian prime minister assured his country's support for Bangladesh's bid to become a dialogue partner to ASEAN, they said.

After their talks, the two leaders witnessed the signing of the documents.Of the three agreements, one is on establishing a joint commission for promoting bilateral cooperation, another on the promotion and reciprocal protection of investment and the other on cultural cooperation.

The MoU is on scientific and technical cooperation in agriculture sector.

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen on Monday morning arrived in Bangladesh capital Dhaka for a three-day official visit.
