REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SERANG -- A number of representatives from various elements of the Banten community, under the "Banten True Red and White Volunteers", have declared their support for presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto and his running mate, Hatta Rajasa.

The declaration of the Banten True Red and White Volunteers to support the Prabowo-Hatta pair was read out by the group's secretary, Dady Hartadi here on Monday.

"We have set a 70 percent target of votes for the victory of Prabowo-Hatta duo, because we are ready to contribute about one million votes," Dady said.

The reason to support the Prabowo-Hatta pair was because the people expect to have a leader with more sense of patriotism, according to him.

Prabowo is mentally strong to unite the unitary states of Indonesia because he has a military background, so Indonesia is not snubbed by other countries, he believed.

"Do not let other countries harass our country because the leader is not unequivocal," Dady disclosed.

Probowo Subianto-Hatta Rajasa and Joko Widodo-Jusuf Kalla are the two pairs of Indonesian presidential and vice presidential candidates, who will contest the July 9 presidential election, the General Election Commission (KPU) announced.

During the election number draw at the KPU headquarters on Sunday, Prabowo-Hatta got number 1 on the ballot papers, while their opponents received number 2 for the ballot papers in the presidential election.

The Prabowo-Hatta duo is supported by the Greater Indonesia Movement (Gerindra), the Golkar Party, the National Mandate Party, the Prosperous Justice Party, the United Development Party (PPP), and the Crescent and Star Party (PBB) with 292 seats or 52.14 percent in the parliament.

The Joko Widodo-Jusuf Kalla duo is supported by the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP), the National Democrat Party (NasDem), the National Awakening Party (PKB), and the People`s Conscience Party (Hanura) with 207 seats or 36.96 percent of the House of Representatives (DPR)`s 560 seats.
