REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono is scheduled to receive Golkar Party Chairman Aburizal Bakrie at his office at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, according to the schedule of activities outlined for the president.
The scheduled meeting between President Yudhoyono and Golkar chief is likely related to the upcoming July 9, 2014, presidential election.
On Tuesday evening, Aburizal also met with the presidential hopeful, Joko Widodo "Jokowi" of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP).
At that time, Aburizal said that the meeting was a follow-up of sounding out a coalition between the two political parties.
If an agreement is reached about the coalition then Aburizal stated that the Golkar party will support Jokowi's nomination as the presidential candidate, but it should be further discussed with PDIP Chairperson Megawati Soekarnoputri.
President Yudhoyono also held separate meetings with Jokowi and Great Indonesian Movement Party (Gerindra) presidential aspirant Prabowo Subianto at 1 p.m. and 5 p.m., respectively on Tuesday.
