Tangerang to join world cities summit in Singapore

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, TANGERANG -- The Tangerang city in Banten province has been selected to participate in the World Cities Summit in Singapore on June 1-4, 2014, stated Mayor Arief R. Wismansyah.

Arief noted here on Tuesday that around 162 city mayors from around the world, including from Tangerang, will join the summit in Singapore.

"The city of Tangerang is considered to have a huge potential to become a megapolitan city like Singapore, and thus, it was selected to represent Indonesia in the summit," Arief claimed.

Of the 500 city mayors from across the world, 162 were selected to participate in the upcoming World Cities Summit in Singapore, Arief remarked.

Arief elaborated that during the summit, the participating city mayors will undergo a series of trainings on strategic investment project, public sector reform and governance, infrastructure investment priority, investment in infrastructure financing, and tips for a successful public-private partnership, among several others.

"As a result of these trainings, Tangerang city is expected to become an environmentally-friendly and comfortable megapolitan city in Indonesia," Arief emphasized.

Besides this, he stated that after the World Cities Summit ends, Tangerang city is expected to open cooperation network with many more cities around the world.
