Michelin to invest 43 billion euro for new plant in Indonesia

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, YOGYAKARTA -- Global tire manufacturer PT Michelin plan to built a new plant in Indonesia's Yogyakarta. This plant would produce synthetic material for tire products and projected to be completed on next 2017.

According to Country Director Michelin Indonesia, Jean Charles Simon, on the new plant , manufacturer was in collaboration with local company. The investment was 430 billion euro.

"Right now, our plant in Southeast Asia is in Bangkok," he said after new Michelin's tire product launch of X Coach Energy Z in Yogyakarta, Saturday as reported by Yulianingsih

Michelin's new tire product was intended for tourist's buses. The new product would be introduced in Jakarta and Surabaya.

This new plant was expected to strengthen Michelin's position as radial tire manufacturer in Indonesia. On 2013, Simon continued, Indonesia's radial tire market share was 16 percent. And on 2019, he predicted the market share would rise up to 28 percent.
