REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The Jakarta composite index closed slightly higher on Monday at 4,842.50 points.
The index of the Indonesian Stock Exchange (BEI) rose 3.74 percent or 0.08 percent with index of 45 most liquid stocks up 1.17 percent to 817.15 points
Analyst of Asjaya Indosurya Securities William Surya wijaya said the JCI had the potential to climb to the level of 4,90 points with the inflows of foreign capital.
The JCI is still in the rising trend in short term and middle term, he said.
Foreign net buy was recorded at Rp305.288 billion in Monday's trade.
William predicted that the JCI would hover around 4,838--4,917 points on Tuesday.
Trade on Monday was recorded with 170,312 transactions involving 2.87 billion shares valued at Rp3.24 trillion.
Gainers were outnumbered by decliners by 127 to 178 with 104 shares unchanged.
Regional markets such as Hang Seng gained 1.28 percent in index to 21,976.33 points with Nikkei index falling 0.19 percent to 14,457.51 and that of Straits Times down 0.34 percent to 3,241.60 points.
