REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, MANILA -- Philippine President Benigno Aquino III disclosed Friday that his administration will purchase more aircraft to improve the capability of the Philippine Air Force (PAF).

The president said the government will buy eight combat utility helicopters, six close air support aircraft, two long-range patrol aircraft and radar systems.

"Aside from these, we also plan to buy full motion flight simulator to enhance the training of our pilots," he said.

By next year, 12 FA-50 fighter aircraft from South Korea will be delivered to the country, Aquino added.

The acquisition of additional aircraft and other equipment for the PAF is part of the government's modernization program.
