REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SURABAYA -- Italian Ambassador to Indonesia Geserico Failla has opened an educational and cultural center called "Centro Antonio Pigafetta" abbreviated as "Centro Pigafetta" in the International Village building of the Surabaya University (Ubaya).

The opening ceremony for the educational and cultural center was held after the Italian Ambassador signed the cooperation document for the establishment of the representative center along with the Ubaya rector Joniarto Parung here on Wednesday.

"We have chosen Ubaya as the location for our representative office because this university has International Village and so it is suitable and easy to reach by those seeking for information about Italy," said the Uni-Italia representative, IIaria Gallo said.

IIaria also expressed a hope that "Centro Pigafetta" at the Ubaya will help step up the promotion of Italy in Surabaya through several programs such as Italian cultural and language learning, studying in Italy, internship, lecturers exchange, as well as joint degree program.
