REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Political observer of Islamic State University Syarif Hidayatullah, Saiful Umam said that Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) chief, Abraham Samad would be popular if he received the proposal of presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto of the Gerindra party. Samad is also one of figures that popular to be a vice president.

"Gerindra is clean as the party has not got a chance to be the ruling party. It has less opportunity for corruption and making them still clean right now," Umam said on Wednesday as reported by Muhammad Hafil.

Gerindra needs someone who has a good image in community. However, Umam hopes that Samad does not receive the proposal as he has to finish his work to eradicate large cases of corruption in Indonesia.

Policical analyst of University of Indonesia, Effendi Ghozali said that there were four potential names to be vice president in Indonesia based on several surveys. They are Abraham Samad, former vice president Jusuf Kalla, former chairman of Constitutional Court Mahfud MD and Surabaya mayor Tri Rismaharini.

"Abraham Samad is popular to be paired with anyone who really deserves to be president," Ghozali said as reported by Erik Purnama Putra.

The duet of Prabowo-Samad has a great chance to attract attention of Indonesian people. Ghozali predicted that Samad could resign from his current position as the KPK frontman handed it to his fate and God's permission. It means, he does not refuse to become a vice presidential candidate.
