REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- State owned flight carrier, PT Garuda Indonesia will expand its fleet from Jakarta to Palu two times per day. Marketing and Sales Director of Garuda Indonesia, Erik Meijer said that the direct flight was a choice for passengers as they had to wait a long time previously at airport before continuing the journey.
"Now passenger can fly directly from Jakarta to Palu without having to transit in Makassar," Meijer said on Sunday.
Aircraft of Boeing 737-800 NG will serve the flight. This flight is also a passenger's request showing improved economic growth in Sulawesi.
Palu is a promising destination for Garuda Indonesia due to some industries development in the region. Deputy Governor of Central Sulawesi, Sudarto witnessed the opening of direct flight. He said that Garuda's service to Palu and other cities in Sulawesi would support regional economic growth, especially business sector and tourism industry.
