SSK Migas holds the signing of six domestic gas contracts

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Special Task Force for Upstream Oil and Gas (SKK Migas) held the signing of six gas sales contracts to domestic contractors on Thursday. Acting Head of SKK Migas, Johanes Widjonarko explained that total gas volume sold to contractors was 915.22 trillion british thermal units (tbtu) with additional revenues worth 2.28 billion USD or 25 trillion IDR.

"We expect the gas distribution will run well and it provide more contribution to state revenue," Widjonarko said on Thursday.

Among six documents, the first contract was for Batam I signed by PT PGN and ConocoPhillips after three times amendment. The gas volume is 225 tbtu or 50 billion british thermal unit per day (bbutd). While contract for Batam II was signed between PJBG PGN and ConocoPhillips Grissik with volume of 65.8 tbtu or 12 bbtud. 

The third is contract between PJBG PT Chevron Pacific Indonesia and PT Pertamina Hulu Energi Jambi Merang-Talisman (Jambi Merang)-Pacific Oil and Gas (Jambi Merang) Ltd while the gas volume is 58.57 tbtu or 16 bbtud. The fourth contract was signed between PJBG PLN and Total E&P Indonesie-Inpex Corporation with volume of 6.55 tbtu or 2.33 bbtud. 

The fifth contract was signed between PJBG PT Panca Amara Utama and PT PHE Tomori Sulawesi-PT Medco E&P Tomori Sulawesi-Tomori E&P Limited with volume of 248.2 billion cubic feet (bscf) or 55 million cubic feet per day (mmscfd). And the sixth contract contains Heads of agreement (HoA) and was signed between PT Petrokimia Gresik and Husky CNOOC Madura Ltd with volume of 311 bscf or 85 mmscfd.

Allocation of domestic natural gas increased nine percent per year since 2003. In 2013, the value has reached 3.77 bbtud or 52.1 percent of total gas supply, increased from 3.55 bbtud or 49.5 percent of total gas supply in 2012. 

This year, SKK Migas will increase domestic natural gas to 3.782 bbtud or 52.7 percent of total gas supply. Widjonarko said domestic gas utilization would be only optimal if supported by adequate infrastructure.
