Military ammunition warehouse explodes

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SEMANGGI -- A warehouse of military ammunition exploded in Pondok Dayung, Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta on Wednesday. Head of Information Center at Indonesian Armed Forces, Adm Iskandar Sitompul said that the explosion occurred in Katak Unit Force.

"It happened around 10:30 AM," Sitompul said on Wednesday as reported by Wahyu Syahputra.

Until now, there are more than 25 victims and all of them are safe. Iskandar still does not know yet the trigger of explosion. Military is still investigating this case.

Iskandar explained that the absence of civilian casualties due to the location was isolated as a training location of Katak Force. There are also shooting field so it has a ammunition warehouse, like a small lake and difficult entered by people. There is a small freighter to cross over to the location.

 

A team is working to extinguish the fire until now. The victims are officers. They are injured due to broken glass, contact with wood chips, tiles or other materials.
