Telkomsel seeks one million non-human subscribers

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Telkomsel, the largest mobile phone operator in Indonesia is more serious to work on non-human segment through machine to machine (M2M) service. Company targetted to connect one million devices and 100 thousand solutions.

"The market of M2M service is big enough, but not many people understand. We need to educate this service to people," Telkomsel's GM Enterprise Bussines dan Bussines Development, Alfian Manullang said recently as reported by Taufik Rachman.

Telkomsel has about 350 thousand devices to connect M2M service. In 2014, M2M market potential in Indonesia is projected to be 4.7 million mobile connections. The number will increase to 20.9 million mobile connections by 2020. M2M services that have been developed by Telkomsel are EDC over data, mobile tracking, telemetri, point of sales and SFA.

"The service will continue to develop according to costumers' needs. Basically, we prepare the solutions according to costumers' requirements," Manullang added.

Telkomsel is focusing on integrator system and costumers' enterprises with three industries, namely transportation logistics, financial and banking, also utilities.
