REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Bandung's Husein Sastranegara airport in Wes Java was reopened at 9 am Sunday after being closed temporarily due to the impact of the Mount Kelud eruption in East Java, official said.
"Husein Sastranegara airport here was reopened at 9 am, but some airline companies with certain destinations will start to operate normally later in the day," airport management company PT Angkasa Pura-II spokesman Daryatno said here on Sunday.
He said Lion Air would start its flights from Bandungat 12 noon while Tiger Air Mandala would do the same on Monday.
But he pointed out that Bandung-Yogyakarta route has yet to be opened because the runway Adisucipto airport in Yogyakarta was still being covered by volcanic ashes from Mount Kelud eruption.
The Husein Sastranegara airport in Bandung, West Java had been closed temporarily since 2.30 pm on Friday due to the eruption, and the closure has affected the flights of Susi Air from Bandung to Nusawiru; AirAsia from Bandung to Surabaya, Denpasar, Medan, Pekanbaru; Citilink from Bandung to Denpasar; Express Air from Bandung to Padang; Lion Air from Bandung to Surabaya, Banjarmasin; and Garuda from Bandung to Surabaya and Denpasar.
