REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- President Susilo Bambang Yudhyono has nominated Yunus Husein to be part of the experts' panel, which will be responsible for the appointment of constitutional court justices, stated Judicial Commission (KY) Chairman Imam Anshori.

"The president has nominated Yunus Husein for membership of the experts' panel," he noted here on Monday.

Yunus Husein was the former head of the Center of Financial Transactions and Analysis Reporting (PPATK).

In the meantime, Anshori remarked that the Supreme Court (MA) and the House of Representatives (DPR) have not yet forwarded the names of their representatives, who will be part of the panel.

He was hopeful that the MA and DPR will soon put forward the names, so that the panel can start functioning at the earliest.

The KY has already finalized the names of four experts hailing from the community, who will be part of the panel. Two chief justices will have to be appointed for filling in the positions that were left vacant following the arrest of former chief justice Akil Mochtar for his alleged involvement in corruption cases and the tenure of Chief Justice Haryono, which is due to end in March, this year.

"They are former constitutional court justice Ahmad Sodiki, Ahmad Syafii Maarif (community figure), Achmad Zen Umar Purba (academics), and Todung Mulya Lubis (legal practitioner)," Anshori clarified on January 22.

He claimed that the four names were finalized from a list of 16 hopefuls comprising former constitutional court justices, community figures, academicians, and legal practitioners.

Based on the KY's Regulation Number 9 of 2013, the panel will constitute seven members, four of which will be from the community, while the rest will be nominated by the DPR, the President, and the Supreme Court.
