Gita Wirjawan resigns to focus on presidential campaign

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Indonesia's Trade Minister, Gita Wirjawan formally resigned to focus on presidential campaign of Democratic Party Convention 2014. He said that he had met President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono two days ago.

"I chose to focus on winning the presidential nomination on Democratic Party Convention," Wirjawan told to Republika's reporter, Riga Nurul Iman on Friday at Senayan Golf, Jakarta.

Wirjawan said that President had received his request started on Januari 31, 2014. After carried out a Friday prayer - a congregational prayer that Muslims hold every Friday - Wirjawan packed his bags in the office. He handed over the decision to President about the replacement of trade minister.
