Bali's maritime and fish export up 9.4 pecent

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, DENPASAR -- Bali's exports of fishery and maritime products rose 9.4 percent year-on-year to US$94.05 million in the first ten months of 2013.

"The fishery and maritime sector accounts for 23.59 percent of Bali's total export earning of US$398.75 million in the January-October period of 2013, spokesman of the Bali administration I Ketut Teneng said here on Friday.

Fresh and frozen tuna fish are the largest contributors to the provincial earning from the exports of eight types of fishery commodities of Bali, Ketut Teneng said.

Tuna fish exports totaled 12,616 tons valued at US$63.45 million in the first 10 months of 2013 including fish catch of traditional fishermen and big fishing companies based mainly in the Benoa port of Bali.

Ketut Teneng said tuna exports rose in volume by 15.8 percent and by 1.01 percent in value.

Other types of fish exported form Bali include the grouper, live decorative fish , skip jack , crabs , lobster, shark fin, etc.

Ketut Teneng said Japan is the largest buyer of fishery products, followed by the United States and Australia, Malaysia, Singapore , Hong Kong and European countries.
