REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Indonesian government through state owned electricity company, PT PLN, ASEAN Infrastructure Fund (AIF) and Asian Development Bank (ADB) will finance electricity in Bali. Indonesia will receive infrastructure loan worth 25 million USD for the expansion of power transmission lines with capacity of 500 KiloVolt (KV) from Java to Bali.
This agreement is signed by Regional Director of ADB (Adrian Ruthenberg) and President Director of PLN (Nur Pamudji), witnessed by Director General of Debt Management in Ministry of Finance (Robert Pakpahan) in Jakarta on Monday.
This project is estimated to be completed in March 2019. It aims to increase electrification ratio and meet electricity demand in region of Bali that is still limited.
"Java-Bali electricity will be connected. It is not through submarine cable, but we build two tows between Java and Bali. The project has been long planned and we need it," Pakpahan said on Monday.
He added that the infrastructure development financed by ADB loan worth 224 million USD, AIF worth 25 million USD and government through PLN worth 151 million USD. AIF will fund 300 million USD per year for highway development project railway lines, electricity, drainage and other infrastructures.
