REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, YANGON -- After Myanmar fell to Indonesia 1-0 on Monday night, the Myanmar Football Federation announced the dismissal of coach Park Sung Wha. The loss to Indonesia meant Myanmar failed to even make the medal round at the 27th SEA Games.

Park’s firing was just two weeks ahead of the end of his two-year contract with the Federation.

“He will no longer be Myanmar’s football coach although his contract finishes at the end of this month and he will not enjoy any remuneration for the rest of the contract time. He also accepts the responsibility and has resigned voluntarily. We will not have anything to do with him anymore,” said U Soe Moe Kyaw, Myanmar’s U-23 manager as reported by 27seagames2013.com.

Park Saung Hwa joined the Myanmar team in October 2011 and went to the Indonesia SEA Games as an observer. His contract with the federation was arranged by the Consulate of the Republic of Korea and the agreement was for the federation to take care of Park’s food and lodging while Myanmar Posco (a Korean business company) paid his salary.

The federation also confirmed rumors Kyaw Ko Ko, who had been left out of the starting line-up against Indonesia for criticizing Park’s techniques, had to plead with the coach to be allowed to play.“The head of the federation urged Kyaw Ko Ko to apologize to him (Park) and then he was allowed to play in the second half,” said U Soe Moe Kyaw.
