REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, NAYPYITAW -- The Indonesian rowing team added three more gold medals to its tally at the SEA Games 2013 held in Ngalike Dam, Nypyitaw, on Monday.

The first gold medal of the day for Indonesia was won by Wahyuni, who paired with Maryam Makdalena Daimoi in the LW 2X event and finished the race in seven minutes and 46.42 seconds.

The silver medal in the event went to the Vietnamese team, which finished 1.5 seconds after the Indonesian team, while the bronze medal was secured by the host team that finished 4.46 seconds behind the Indonesian team.

Indonesia's second gold medal was bagged by Ihram and Nuhamad Yakin in the LM 2X event by clocking seven minutes and 77.42 seconds. The Philippine team won the silver medal in the event, while the Thai team took the bronze medal.

Indonesian rowers Jamaludin, Alidarta Lakiki, Arif and Thomas Hallatu won the third gold medal in the LM4- event by finishing the race in six minutes and 49.48 seconds.

"In terms of results, Indonesia has fared better in the ongoing SEA Games. Indonesia managed to bag gold medals in events that it failed to win earlier. It is clear that the target has been met," Coach Dede Rohmad Nurjaya stated.

He said the country's target from the rowing event had been set at three gold medals, but the chances for winning more gold medals are still high as four races had yet to be competed.

"The rowing event has nine races in total. Indeed, the number is smaller than in the previous SEA Games, where there were 11 races," he added.

Indonesia's Rowing Manager, Budiman Setiawan, said it was no surprise that the country's athletes won three gold medals as they had the ability to achieve that target.

"Indeed, not all athletes have performed their best, especially the women athletes. The young athlete (Memo) could not overcome the unfavorable wind conditions," he stated.

Memo only managed to bag a bronze medal in the MIX event.

Until Monday, Indonesia had won seven gold medals, including four in kayaking and canoeing events.
