REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Indicators of Indonesian Politics (IPI) survey showed that electability of Jakarta Governor, Joko Widodo (popularly known as Jokowi) was higher than Chairman of Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P), Megawati Sukarnoputri. Megawati's voters switched to Jokowi.

Executive Director of IPI, Burhanuddin Muhtadi explained that if Megawati to be nominated as presidential candidate, her electability was only 17 percent, below Chairman of Golkar Party Aburizal Bakrie (23.8 percent) and Chairman of Gerindra Party Prabowo Subianto (29.1 percent). However, if Jokowi runs as candidate, his votes will reach 49.1 percent over Bakrie (13.2 percent) and Prabowo (17.5 percent).

Golput - Indonesian term of voters who refuse to participate in election - will only stand only 20.2 percent if Jokowi runs the general election. However, the figure will soar to 29.4 percent if Jokowi does not follow the election.

"It means golput potential to rise 9.4 percent if Jokowi does not follow the presidential election next year," Muhtadi said recently.

From the poll data, Jokowi received the most votes from Indonesia citizens up to 18 percent, followed by Prabowo (6.9 percent), Bakrie (5.7 percent), Chairman of Hanura Party Wiranto (4.2 percent), President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (2.7 percent), Megawati (2.3 percent) and politician of Golkar Party Jusuf Kalla (1.4 percent).

Deputy Secretary General of PDI-P, Hasto Kristyanto estimates that Indonesian citizens prefer an honest leader than a smart leader. These criteria would be used as an indicator of internal assessment in PDI-P. The party also conducted psychological test to select the appropriate honest cadres.
