REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono reminded that rhetoric alone cannot change Indonesian economy. Therefore, economic strategy and its implementation were necessary to be discussed.

"Too much rhetoric cannot change our economy. We need rational strategy and its implementation," Yudhoyono said on Wednesday.

To face volatility of global economic condition, Indonesia needed management of crisis. The impact of crisis expected to minimize fluctuation from domestic and external factors.

Yudhoyono said that Indonesia had lot of experience to cope economic crisis in 1998, 2005, 2008 and 2009 and the country got through it. Indonesia managed to minimize the impact of global crisis. The economy still survives and grows.

"I believe we can also handle current economic fluctuation," Yudhoyono said.

President saw that economic pressure was encountered by Indonesia and global, but it's not fully understood by public. The pressure happened today and it shown from slowing global growth. A number of developed countries, such as Japan and United States have shown economic slowing and their economic growth remain below four percent. Other countries were not different; even they have to fight harder to overcome economic pressure.

The fall of Rupiah and stock prices, as well as the raise of current account deficit and trade can be seen in Indonesia. Influence of external factors, especially from tappering off - the external policy of US - also affected on it. So, Yudhoyono concluded that Indonesian economic situation in 2013 and 2014 would not be as easy as it was.
