Iranian president meets chairman of Indonesian parliament

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, TEHRAN - President of Iran, Dr Hassan Rouhani, stressed that Iran was ready to further strengthen relations with Indonesia. He made the remarks in a meeting with Marzuki Alie, Indonesian parliament speaker on Wednesday.

President Rouhani said on his official websites that Indonesia is a major and Islamic country , and Iran and Indonesia countries should try to have a close relations.

President noted the nice aspects of two countries’s cooperation at the international level, including the United Nations, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the NAM , said that two countries share identical view points and we should further develop the bilateral economic and cultural cooperation.

President stressed need for unity among Islamic countries, said that Unfortunately, some people are looking to create a division in the Muslim world.

Dr.Rouhani said that we should try to promote a true culture of Islam in the Muslim world and describe for other people that Muslims are not violent people and terrorists.

Indonesia’s Parliament Speaker expressing his satisfaction with his current visit to Iran, he hoped it would lead to expansion of long-lasting bilateral relations.

He added, "During our visit of Iran, we have come to this realization that Iran is an advanced and powerful country."

The Indonesian official further condoled Iran over the blasts in front of Iranian Embassy in Beirut, Lebanon, that killed many civilians including Iran’s cultural attaché.
