KPK examines Agricultural Minister and businessman over beef import scandal

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) will examine some witnesses in beef import scandal in Ministry of Agriculture for a suspect who is also President Director of PT Indoguna Utama, Maria Elizabeth Liman. Two of them are Minister of Agriculture (Suswono) and a businessman (Sengman Tjahja).

"I provide information related to the suspect (President Director of PT Indoguna Utama)," Suswono said in his arrival to KPK building on Tuesday.

Suswono came to KPK building with brown shirt batik, accompanied by two of his staff. He said that he did not understand the meaning of the call as he has given all information to Commission previously.

"Maybe the Commission requires additional information. So, I was asked to come," said the politician of Prosperous Justice Party.

There are other witnessess, a businessman from Palembang, South Sumatra, Sengman Tjahja and lawyer of Ahmad Fathanah, Ahmad Rozi. Both suspects are also examined for Mary ELizabeth Liman.

Head of Reporting and Information in KPK, Priharsa Nugraha said that Sengman was a key person, beside Bunda Putri. In trial of Ahmad Fathanah, Ridwan Hakim who is son of Hilmi Aminuddin said that Sengman received fee for meat quota administration worth 40 billion IDR. Hakim also said that Sengman is a close friend of President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.
