REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, MILAN -- Indonesian young tycoon Erick Thohir officially elected as President of Inter Milan on Friday (16/11). Erick replaced Massimo Moratti who has led with the I Nerazzurri since 1995.
In his first opportunity as a president to speak to the media, Thohir immediately encouraged club officials and hinted AC Milan, Inter FC rivals.
"Chi non salta Rossonero è! (He who does not jump is Rossonero/AC Milan fan)," Erick said with his smiling face greeting the journalists. The very popular phrase shouted by fans in Giuseppe Meazza to hint AC Milan supporters.
Erick said, to become the President of the Inter was his phenomenal achievement. He considered it a dream come true. Therefore, Erick thank God, family, and colleagues who help him to realize the dream.
Erick with Rosan Roeslani and Handy Soetedjo become majority owner of the club. Through Consortium International Sports Capital (ISC), they bought 70 percent stake of 350 million USD, or about Rp 5.4 trillion. With the enactment of Erick as president, it is being the end of the era of Moratti who led Inter since 1995.
