REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Jakarta Provincial Government actively adds some green open spaces by prepares a budget of 60 billion IDR for planting trees. Governor of Jakarta, Joko Widodo or popularly known as Jokowi said that budget allocation was quite high because government bought kinds of large trees with big diameter, such as mango, guava, eucalyptus, baubab and salam trees.
"This budget will be increased year to year," Jokowi said recently.
Last year, Jakarta government never allocated trees budget, except budget to build gardens filled with lily, bakung plants and grasses that price was very cheap. Former Mayor of Solo said that Jakarta needed large tress, so the city could become cooler.
Trees that will be planted in each region of Jakarta will adapted to each character of region. For example North Jakarta, which is close to the sea, is suitable planted mango trees, guava and salam. Of course it will be different with South Jakarta region.
