REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The National Police will increase its number of corruption investigators in response to rising corruption cases, a police chief investigator said.

"The number of corruption investigators at the Police Headquarters and Jakarta Regional Police is not enough," Brig. Gen. Idham Aziz, director of the Corruption Crime Affairs of the National Police Headquarters, said here on Tuesday.

He noted that Police Chief Gen Sutarman had reminded police of the need to increase the number of investigators, which might be increased in 2014.

Idham said the total number of investigators is about 1,000 personnel, while the additional numbers needed will be communicated to the police chief.

He said his office had handled 24 cases through the end of November 2014.

"I have the commitment to finish the handling of 30 cases this year," he added.
