REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The Jakarta administration will allocate much of the 2014 provincial budget to preventing traffic jams and floods, Governor Joko Widodo said here on Friday.
The 2014 regional budget will triple this year, said Jokowi, as the governor is popularly called.
But he did not elaborate, saying it was the Jakarta provincial legislative council (DPRD) that had the budgeting right.
The offices of transportation, public works, education, housing and health offices would receive a major portion of the funds, he stated.
"Let's check the figures later. I forget the figures. We will build 200 flats at a cost of Rp5 trillion to Rp6 trillion. I don't want to tell you about the figures because the budgeting right is with the DPRD," Jokowi remarked.
