Taekwondo: Indonesia provisionally ranked seventh

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, NUSA DUA -- Indonesia has been ranked seventh in the 8th WTF World Taekwondo Poomsae Championship here on Saturday, being awarded one silver and two bronze medals.

The silver medal was won by the U-17 women's team and two bronze medals were presented to Ina Febriana Sari in the U-49 women's individual event and Maulana Hadir in the U-29 men's individual competition.

With the additional medals, the Indonesian team has collected one gold, one silver and three bronze medals during the competition.

The last bronze medal was awarded on the third day to Maulana Haidir in the U-29 men's individual, while the gold medal went to Thomas Sommer from Germany and the silver medal to Wang-Kon Hwang from South Korea. Another bronze medal went to Mahdi Jamali Fashi from Iran.

South Korea has won the most medals, so far, with five gold and four silver medals, followed by the US with two gold, one silver and one bronze medal.

The Philippines was in third place with two gold medals and one silver medal, followed by Spain in fourth place with two gold and two bronze medals and Iran in fifth place with one gold, three silver and four bronze medals.

Vietnam was one slot above Indonesia in sixth place, collecting one gold, two silver and five bronze medals.

The WTF Taekwondo Poomsae is scheduled to finish on Sunday with final competitions in men's and women's team +29, men's team U-17, women's U-59, women's U-29 and freestyle mixed team events.
