REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- A sport event, Jakarta Marathon was held for the first time in capital city. Although it was successfully implemented, there was a participant who died when following the international event.
Ignatius Sumarya (60 years) died when following the race. He is a Rector of Magelang's Seminary of Petrus Kanisius Mertoyudan. Now, his body is at St Carolus Hospital, Central Jakarta.
Governor of Jakarta, Joko Widodo do not want to blame the organizers over the incident as the event has followed the international standard.
"It has followed the international standard. Health standards are prepared for everything. Jakarta Marathon is not a joke," man popularly known as Jokowi said on Sunday.
Jakarta provincial government will make an evaluation soon with relevant parties. Committe will also provide its input. Jokowi said if there was nothing wrong with the result, the same event could be held in 2014. He considered that implementation of Jakarta Marathon 2013 was well so far.
