MP3EI not a toothless tiger, President says

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) asserted, MP3EI masterplan is as a future-oriented program. According to him, the government does not want the nation to be left behind by other countries when connectivity amongst countries being fully completed.

"The government does not want Indonesia to be a defeated nation on facing future developments, when connectivity amongst ASEAN, APEC, including the G-20 has completed," he said in South Kalimantan, on Wednesday (23/10).

Compared to other countries, he said, Indonesia's growth is now second only to China. In fact, in terms of purchasing power, the country ranks 15th in the world.

He believed MP3EI, in the planned periods, will give huge effect to the development of Indonesia.

"MP3EI is not a blank paper, not a toothless tiger but a real one. We must be ready. The next five years, the economy of ASEAN, APEC, and others are fully connected. With the implementation of MP3EI, the nation will not be defeated," he said.

MP3EI projects have been under way in several developmnet spots. In South Kalimantan alone, there are eight projects launched with an investment of 4.9 trillion IDR. While the already completed 10 projects valued 11.3 trillion IDR.
