REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BEKASI -- PT Courts Retail Indonesia, one of Southeast Asia’s leading electrical, IT and furniture retailers, to start the symbolic goundbreaking ceremony of the construction of Courts megastore today (23/10) in Kota Harapan Indah, Bekasi City, West Java.
Country Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Courts Indonesia Roy Santoso said the Courts Megastore is a first megastore in Indonesia that will have two floors and occupy an area of 13 thousand square meters.
"The store is scheduled to begin operating in 2014. Courts offer household products, electrical appliances and electronics, and product information technology (IT)," he said, in a written statement received by ROL, Wednesday (23/10). Its expected, the megastore will serve 2.4 million population of Bekasi.
Meanwhile Executive Director and Group CEO Courts Asia Terry O'Connor said the 13 thousand square meters megastore will be the largest they have ever build and it reflected company's ambition to become the market leader in Indonesia. He said, the building of Courts Megastore in Bekasi is a historic moment for the company for 40 years of its experience in Asia.
"We have determined that Indonesia is a growing important market for the Courts in a few years," he said.
CEO of Kota Harapan Indah Bekasi Benny Gunawan expressed his happiness for the building of the megastore in Kota Harapan Indah, the largest residential area in Eastern Jakarta.
"Together with other commercial businessmen in Kota Harapan Indah, we believe that the presence of this well-known retail stores will boost Kota Harapan Indah as a leading destination on shopping location, to increase the number of visitors, and most importantly, to create job opportunities for the surrounding communities," he said.
